Medicine Rocks State Park is a certified Dark Sky location in Montana. “Dinosaurs and Dark Skies” is the program theme for this pre-Dino Shindig (July 22-23) Dark Sky event. Sunset Yoga preceeds the programming at 8 pm. All dark sky events are free and open to the public.
Talks and kid’s activities on Saturday, July 22, are $10 for adults and $7 for kids (under 13). They will go on sale in-person at the Carter County Museum on July 22. The Bat Walk takes place at the Carter County Museum on Saturday at 9 p.m. On Sunday the Science & Cultural History Gathering takes place at Medicine Rocks State Park, 10 am-2 pm, featuring speakers, a microsite sorting fossil activity, mosaic craft workshop, and a nature hike (Free admission). Sunday’s fossil field expedition is SOLD OUT with participants from across the nation. The Shindig is open to the public and will continue to follow safety procedures as outlined by the CDC and State of Montana, along with sanitation protocol and availability of sanitizing stations.
