Jr. Paleontology One-Day Field & Museum Experience, Great Plains Dinosaur Museum

This one-day Field and Museum Experience is for 5-12 year olds who are curious, adventurous and eager to explore real fossils in the Montana badlands along with taking a “deep dive” into our dinosaur museum uncovering secrets and solving prehistoric mysteries. The full day program is split into a morning and afternoon session with a lunch break in between. The morning session runs from 9 am-Noon at a fossil dig site outside of Malta (about 30 miles) where field program kids learn how paleontologists find, excavate, and record fossils. The afternoon session runs 1:30-3 pm at the museum where kids clean and study real specimens in our fossil preparation lab and tour the museum. Limited number of participants and pre-registration required. Parents/Guardians provide transportation to and from the dig site while Museum Staff lead the program at both locations.
