The Museum’s “Dino Depot” displays Late Cretaceous fossils found in the area including the “Sir William” skull replica, a “First in Montana” Tetraphoneus (tyrannosaur) find; “Aimee” the Triceratops whose skull, frill and mid-section fossils come from the area’s ancient “Ingomar Oasis.” Other displays include a rare Ankylosaurus skull, a collection of tyrannosaur, hadrosaur and marine fossils and more. Seasonal hours of operation.
Fossil Facts:
1. Teratophoneus is known as a “southern” tyrannosaur, typically found in Utah/New Mexico. “Sir William” is the first recorded discovery in Montana.
2. The “Ingomar Oasis” site was named in 2022 with the discovery of “Aimee’s” right squamosal.
3. The “Ingomar Oasis” has produced fossils from over 10 species including crocodiles, turtles, fish, tyrannosaur, and a rare anylosaur.
4.The partial Ankylosaurus Magniventris skull found at the “Ingomar Oasis” is one of just a few ever discovered.
